Holts Tyreweld consists of a water based latex emulsion, which can simply be absorbed with a paper towel or rinsed out from the tyre using water. This follows the British Standard for Tyre Repair, BS AU159, which involves wiping the tyre with a damp cloth as part of the standard. This would remove any Tyreweld present in the tyre. Therefore use of Holts Tyreweld does not affect whether or not a tyre is repairable, this is because the product can be removed from the tyre easily and doesn’t cause any detrimental effects.
Once the tyre has been wiped the tyre can be inspected to see if a repair can be performed or if the puncture is too severe. It may be the case that the following an inspection of the tyre, the repairer believes that the tyre is irreparable due to the size and/or location of the original puncture or if the tyre integrity has been compromised after encountering the puncture. In this situation the repairer can refuse to repair a tyre, however this should not be in relation to use of Tyreweld.
Holts has been made aware of rare situations where the tyre repairer or the tyre repair shop has a policy not to repair tyres which have been treated with temporary tyre repair products. That is not to say the Tyreweld has damaged the tyre in any way, the garage has just made it their policy to not repair the tyre. We would advise you to seek out reputable independent tyre repair garages if you come across this problem.
