Holts Rewards Rising Star Mechanics – Part One

Holts Rising Star Mechanic Molly with CertificateWe have been developing quality, trusted aftermarket products for British mechanics for almost 100 years.

Throughout this time we’ve focused on delivering reliable solutions to the problems Britain’s mechanics face on a daily basis, be it a trainee or a seasoned professional. As part of our proud heritage, we’re committed to recognising and aiding the development of the next generation of British mechanics. We want to give young people a helping hand to overcome the challenges of their early training, enabling them to grow as professionals in the industry.

Holts Rising

We recently launched our Holts ‘Rising Stars’ campaign, to reward four students studying mechanical courses for their hard work and progress over the last year. The colleges involved in the inaugural Rising Stars initiative were Runshaw College, Leyland; The College Merthyr Tydfil; New College Lanarkshire and Belfast Metropolitan College. Course tutors at these colleges were asked to select their ‘Rising Star’ based on factors including progress, determination and commitment.

Each of our four Holts Rising Stars was then awarded a Holts branded overall, a beginners toolkit containing all that a trainee mechanic needs to solve problems, and a certificate, as recognition of their hard work and potential as leading mechanics of the future. We were especially delighted that two of this year’s Rising Stars were females, training in what continues to be a male dominated industry. The latest figures suggest that less than two per cent of motor vehicle apprentices are female*, even though 50 per cent of motor industry customers are female!

Recognising talent and inspiring the next generation of mechanics, male or female, will continue to be a core focus for Holts over the coming years. Be sure to read the second blog on our Rising Stars campaign which will delve more into our winners’ experiences and motivations, as well as the challenges of being a female trainee in the UK’s automotive mechanics industry.
