7 Marvel Supercars We Wish We Could Drive

Paris, France - January 22, 2017: A black Lamborghini Huracan parked in a street near Champs-Élysées in Paris, France.

Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America; the Marvel Universe has given us some iconic superheroes over the years, and while we’re big fans of the characters, we’re also massively here for the cars.

With the latest film from the Marvel Universe, Spider-Man: Far From Home, just released, we thought we’d take a look in the garages of our favourite superheroes so you can spend a little time appreciating these amazing vehicles and their modifications.

So, join us as we share seven Marvel supercars we’d like to take for a spin.

Audi TTS Roadster – Spider-Man

Where else to start than Spider-Man, who’s hitting our screens again this year with another instalment in the Marvel franchise. While Spidey can normally be found dangling from rooftops, he has been known to travel by car, with his preferred set of wheels being the Audi TTS Roadster.

The TTS Roadster is the convertible performance version of Audi’s flagship TT model. It gives Spider-Man 306bhp from a turbocharged 2-litre engine, which is powerful enough for 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds. Though it’s not the shoutiest supercar on our shortlist, we think it’s a great fit for one of Marvel’s youngest and most fun-loving heroes.

Lamborghini Huracan – Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange has a slightly unusual relationship with cars, in that a car accident was the reason behind his transformation into everyone’s favourite Marvel sorcerer. But putting that aside, in the recent Benedict Cumberbatch adaptation of the Doctor Strange comic, he does drive one of our all-time favourite cars – the Lamborghini Huracan.

The Huracan is one of Lamborghini’s most successful cars ever, replacing the Gallardo as the brand’s biggest seller. It has a 5.2L V10 engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, getting it up to 60mph in 2.5 seconds. All this power was obviously a little too much for Doctor Strange, however, who writes off his Huracan early in the film during a high-speed collision.

Audi R8 – Iron Man

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada - October 24, 2012: An Audi R8 front view showing the Audi emblem in center of hood, and the world's first, all-LED headlights. Vehicle is parked in the shade of a building which can be seen to the right of frame. The Audi R8 is a mid-engined sports car that features a 4.2L V8 engine producing 420 HP.

From the moment Robert Downey Jr first put on the famous Iron Man suit, he quickly rose to become Marvel’s most famous and lucrative hero. Tony Stark has a car collection any motoring fan would give their right arm for, and we couldn’t help but admire his Audi R8 which appears in the first film of the Iron Man series.

The R8 is easily one of the world’s most distinctive and unique supercars, with Audi taking a stripped-back, mechanical approach with its design. It’s also loaded with the kind of high-spec gadgetry that Tony Stark would be proud to put his name to, including Audi’s trademark quattro all-wheel-drive system, making it perfect for Iron Man.

Chevrolet Camaro – Captain America

To many, Captain America is the ultimate Marvel superhero, with a strong moral code and ‘everyman’ kind of background. So, instead of giving him a flashy supercar, the film’s producers put the lovable hero in a vintage Chevrolet Camaro – which is considered very much for a car of the people in the USA.

That’s not to say Captain America’s Camaro is a boring choice, however. Marvel made sure it had all the mod-cons the hero might need, as well as a classic army green paint job to boot. The car was actually given to Chris Evans (who plays Captain America) by co-star Robert Downey Jr, and is now available to view at car shows around the world.

Custom Chrysler 300 – Wolverine

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is easily one of the recognisable faces of the Marvel Universe franchise, with more film instalments than any other hero. In his latest outing as the hard-as-nails hero, Jackman can be seen driving a custom Chrysler 300, which has been lengthened and given a serious makeover.

The Chrysler 300 is one of Chrysler’s biggest-selling cars, but the model that appears in Logan has clearly been customised to give it more of a cinematic feeI. It’s absurdly long and we love it.

Lexus LC500 – Black Panther

Lexus is known for its modern, boundary-pushing cars, so it was an obvious choice for Marvel’s newest superhero, Black Panther. In the film, Panther is shown driving a Lexus LC500, which even before receiving a Marvel makeover, is quite the machine – with otherworldly styling and a 471bhp, 5-litre, 32-valve double overhead-cam V8 engine.

In the film, however, it’s even more impressive. The car gets a remote drive system as well a holographic HUD, and is completely covered in Vibranium – Marvel’s answer to bullet-proof armour. It looks ace during the film’s night-time car chase scene, which you can watch above.

Dodge Charger – Blade

It may be several years since Wesley Snipes showed his gothic side in the Blade Trilogy, but we still have fond memories of the black Dodge Charger he drove throughout the three films. The model used in the trilogy was a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, and its exterior remained pretty much unchanged, retaining the chrome grill and hood scoop which are so distinctive of the Charger.

Inside, however, Blade’s Charger was altogether different. On the dashboard there were a collection of switches and toggles, powering things like nitrous injection and special UV lights to ward off the undead. It also had special in-built holsters for Blade’s weaponry, including his signature silver-bullet shotgun.
