In the annual special edition of Auto Express Magazine’s product awards, Simoniz Back to Black Tyre and Trim was named the winner in the Bumper Shine category for 2022.

Following up on its victory in 2020, Simoniz Back to Black Tyre and Trim has now won the category twice in the last 3 years and the magazine once again praised the product for its “balance between gloss and finish” whilst being “easy on the wallet.”
This comment indicative of the ‘affordable quality’ ethos that Simoniz has been traditionally recognised for.
Auto Express’s annual product awards have been a mainstay feature of the automotive magazine for many years, and its publication is highly anticipated each year.
Alongside this, the awards are well respected by consumers and a sort-after endorsement for many manufacturers within the automotive industry.
Simoniz Back to Black Tyre and Trim saw off the competition from 17 other entrants within the Bumper Shine category, including similar products from Turtle Wax and Angelwax.
The product testing behind the awards is carried out by Auto Express judges.
In this category, their test focused on protection, with each product being applied in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions to a tired old bumper they picked up from a scrapyard.
They then assessed the initial finish and monitored water beading over three months. Price, a critical factor for most consumers when purchasing car care products, also influenced the final placement in Auto Express’s rankings.
In summarising the product’s performance, Auto Express said:
“THERE’S lots to like about this treatment, which can be used on both trim and tyres, making it ideal if storage space for your car cleaning kit is limited. It’s also one of the easiest to apply – just spray on after washing and drying the car and leave to dry.
There’s no need for applicators or buffing to a shine with this aerosol. You can increase the gloss by applying several coats, but just one application gave a decent shine and darkened the appearance of our tired bumper.
To our eye it was one of several on test that got the balance between gloss and finish right. It was easy on the wallet, too, proving to be the least expensive on test.
But it doesn’t take the win solely on price, because it also was beading water all through the three months – a worthy winner.”

Elsewhere, there was also a ‘Commended’ award win for the Simoniz Ultracare Wheel Cleaner in the Wheel Cleaner category. This represents a second accolade in 2022 for the product having achieved a ‘Recommended’ award earlier in the year from Auto Express Magazine.
